Kept me warm

Tested it out in high winds on a climb of Mount Rainier - Initial impressions: it held up great and even without a hardshell over it, I did not feel the wind. As our team slowed the pace with increasing slope, I put on a hardshell over it. With layers of a baselayer, a softshell hoodie, this down, and a hardshell I stayed comfortable even in 70 mph winds and single digit temps. I appreciate the light weight and packability. I used the stuff sack filled with other clothes as a pillow at camp.

Perfect jacket

I bought one for myself and one for my brother. Perfect weight, warmth and windproof. I did a lot of shopping; most are way too thin, or not windproof. This isn’t a “puffy” coat either - nice and lightweight. Great colors and quality feel. I love this jacket. Backcountry is great too. They don't sell what they don't have, and fast shipping.

I'm not sure why I purchased a second one of these after my first one from 2018 had the zipper break twice but I did. This new one is worse. The down is very unevenly distributed and the new model is not fitted. It's like wearing a bag. On the one plus side I would say that the hood is really nice.

Its a good jacket I like the fit and it keeps me warm for the most part but too expensive for the quality. The problem I had is the feathers leaking out the seams. I wore a black t shirt under it one day and my shirt was covered in feathers.

Highly recommend. 188cm and have freakishly long arms xl fits perfect love the 3rd pocket for stuffing jacket when not in use. The main zipper is 2 way but needs to be beefier will pop at most inopportune times. Towning a definite yes for price, cragging get a more bomb proof zipper. Otherwise warm and dry puffy that looks and wears great.

I really like this coat, since it is super lightweight and warm. However.the zipper is not constructed well and does not align on the track. I've only had this jacket a few weeks and have run into this problem. If someone from the company cab reach out to help with this matter thatd be great.

It is hard to find the perfect down jacket. I know because I bought 3 or 4 different ones before settling on this one. I am a big Outdoor Research guy and my go-to option in this price range was the Helium. I really liked the features and tougher material on that jacket but the fit was just so odd for me. The medium fit perfect from the torso up but the waist was squeezing me when zipped and was very short. The large was gigantic on me. Tried some Mountain Hardwear - medium fit too loose and boxy and the large was a trash sack on me. Then I got to this Rab! The cut and fit of these is so well thought out. I actually could not decide between the medium or large because they both fit decently and would both work in different situations (layers under or over). I settled on the medium and it is just perfect. It is every-so slightly tight in the armpit/shoulder area which is further motivation to lose the excess 15 pounds I've been carrying on me for the last couple of years. The length is what makes this stand out for me. It fits snug in the torso but also has a slight tail that is sure to keep your waist and belly covered when reaching or bending over. I also love the stitching layout for the neck area when it is zipped all the way. As far as performance goes, I have taken it out for a couple of hikes and a couple of bike rides in drizzly/misting conditions at around 40 degrees. It is no surprise that it is plenty warm for 40 degree weather, but it also stands up well to the wet and even moving quickly on a bike on an open road the wind doesn't make it through to the skin at all. About 80% of the jacket has shed the moisture and only a few spots where water hung on soaked through, but I certainly never felt like the insulation was losing any of its performance. The stuff sack is a little weird when everything else on the market can stuff into a pocket, but I actually really like it because the shape it stuffs into is nicer than the usual pocket-shaped thing. I just keep it in the chest pocket so its out of the way of my hands and it isn't even noticeable because the stuff sack material is so light and soft. My final note is the feel of the jacket. Compared to the other brands I have tried, I would say this has an extra level of "plushness" to it. The outer and inner material is just really soft and less stiff or rigid than some down jackets.

This coat looks and fits great (6’3” 180 lbs Large). The hood and pockets are adequate. It should be 5 stars BUT like other lightweight jackets I own (for example a Montane), the zipper is cheesy and refuses to engage and zip. The only way I could manage it is to hold the fabric opposite the zipper pull and pull. Doing that will cause the fabric to rip, over time and is unnecessary if Rab had used a better quality zipper.

Above and Beyond Expectations

This is my first Rab product and I'm thrilled beyond expectations. Initially, I was a little skeptical of the price; however, as it turns out it is a great value. I wanted a jacket that was in between my heavier winter Arc'teryx and a much lighter one and this Rab jacket hits the spot. Here's what I love: slim tighter fit, deep pockets, soft material for your chin when you zip jacket up all the way, lightweight, thinness, windproof features, long tail area, elastic around the wrist hand/area. Rab also did a fantastic job with the hood. I live in Grand Rapids, MI and this is the perfect jacket for trails, parks, and slipping on while you drive around and run errands. It's been a long winter and Rab has taken the chill out of my days. I typically wear this when the temperature is between 30-50 F and only wear a base layer under it. I honestly haven't found any dislikes. Goo for it! You will be happy that you did!
