Still Great Shorts

I've been a fan of the 7" Stand Up Shorts for over a decade. I am not a climber; I wear them for walking around and love the 5 pockets, and the general sturdiness of the shorts. They are bullet proof. I take every opportunity to buy a new pair when Patagonia releases a new colour (which I appreciate is against the company's ethos). My only gripes are as follows. Year over year I never know what I will get in terms of sizing as some years the 35" waist is loose, tight, or just right (having nothing to do with my weight!). Gladly, the 2023 version is just right. Finally, I am not a fan of the bigger stitched logo on the back. The smaller classic version of the logo was perfect. This new one feels childish and cartoonish.

Bogus Reissue

Real stand-up shorts have double-seat back pockets, in some cases with an extra wallet pocket on the right side. The early models were 5" legs, not 7". 7" legs are for standing around and trying to look cool; 5" legs are less restrictive and are made for bookin'. Wake up, Patagonia!
