Poor quality

Feathers are sticking out from all over the jacket. I am very disappointed with this brand.

Big Patagonia Fan...but

Bought this in Navy Large. It is VERY warm it will not be that way for long. This jacket molts, all the time. I am constantly picking down from the panels as the feathers poke through. At least that is one feather at a time, tonight there was down sticking out from a seam and before I was done I literally had a ball of down the size of a golf ball in my hand. Once again, I love Patagonia and have closet full, but this jacket is a serious mistake.

Poor quality especially for the price

I bought this jacket in black and was shocked upon receiving it that unlike the pictures shown on the website it’s not a true black. It’s more of dark grey or at the very least a washed out black. Also, for the price that I paid the quality is very cheap. It has shed feathers from the stuffing since I first started wearing it. There are literal feathers sticking out of the seams all over the jacket. I’m blown away at how low quality this jacket is. It even feels cheap. I’ve gotten better quality puffer jackets at cheap chain stores. I would discourage anyone from buying this jacket. Just because you’re paying more for it doesn’t mean that the quality is there.

Poor Fit - Returned

Familiarity:

M and L

I'm 6'2", 155lbs tall/slim build (think runner). I'm usually between a size M or L depending on the brand of clothing, but Mediums from Patagonia usually fit really well for me, including a Torrentshell 3L rain jacket. For whatever reason the Down jackets fit differently than other Patagonia jackets. I tried a medium first, and while it fit really well in the shoulders and chest, the sleeves were slightly shorter than I preferred. After wearing it for a bit I found myself constantly tugging at the bottom of the jacket. I feel like the medium needed to be JUST 1 inch longer in the body of the jacket and it would have been great. Returned the Medium and purchased a Large, thinking that would fit better. However, when the Large arrived I had the opposite problem. Fit great in the length of the body and sleeves but was way too big in the chest/waist (looked like I was wearing a barrel). If you are a slim build, or usually between sizes, this may not be the jacket for you. Learn from my mistake and order both sizes that you are usually between in this jacket to compare the fit at the same time instead of having to wait for things to ship to and fro.

I cannot give a review on the jacket itself other than first impressions of it. Jacket runs a tiny bit smaller than other brands, my husband is usually a Small. Ordered that size and it fit but layering anything other than a t-shirt under it made the jacket bulge. Tried a size up at an REI store and that was comically large. Main reason he didn't like it is that it felt cheap. He commented that the zipper felt like it would break quickly. Ended up returning and purchasing a different brand that had same fill and pack ability but felt like better quality. Also, didn't pay attention when first ordering from Backcountry but was a little shocked they charged $7 for return shipping. Would've expected a lower price or even free when spending this much on gear. Hopefully they fulfill the return quickly as it's been 5 days since shipped. Probably won't buy from again unless I know that I won't need to return.

I was skeptical of its durability and light weight. I would not wear it to clear brush (for fear of tearing it), but it quickly became my “go to” jacket for cold days. Much light weight - almost feels like you are not wearing “enough” coat- but warmer than much heavier coats I own. I was so happy with it, now three family members have them. Exceeded my expectations.

Warm, lightweight, comfortable, compressible, and fashionable. It's a great jacket. Seems to be warm enough for 30-degree temperatures. Only time will tell if the quality and craftsmanship are built to last. Fingers crossed.

Fits a little bit large as I have a size between M and L. I took L for the extra length.

Bad stock photo for Sedge Green

Be warned, the stock photo for the Sedge Green is WAY different than in person. Its basically eucalyptus. Both are much lighter in person. VERY light green on the bottom. Second color I've ordered with this jacket and looks like I'll be returning both and giving up on it! Bummer. Other than the color seems like a good jacket. Super soft.

Great jacket for almost any conditions, from layering under a ski shell to around town. I have worn the down sweater for years and love its style and versatility. I like that Patagonia is now using fully recycled materials to make it! #backcountrygearhead
