Light weight gem
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- Small
Tested twice, once on a rural walk and another short hike in woods. I easily stored my nanopuff and rain slicker inside. Multiple pockets for compass/rope/first aid gear. 2 exterior pockets used for water bottles are a little shallow, but can tighten up to keep bottles secure.

Nearly Perfect - lots to like

The Osprey Tempest 20L pack replaces a 25L pack from another manufacturer. I really like the 2 hip-belt zipper pockets, the ability to quickly stow my hiking poles while on the go, and this pack seems lighter than my previous one. I'm short but have a long torso so I purchased the M/L. It fits well, and I really like the ventilation provided by the AirScape back panel. However, there are 2 things that are just "meh". As others have noted, it's difficult to get a filled 3L water bladder into the space in the back. If I only fill my bladder to 1.5 L, I can wiggle it in, but a full 3L is more problematic. For shorter hikes, I put 2 water bottles into the side stretch-mesh pockets. But these pockets seem to be further back than my previous pack, and it take a little arm twisting (or twisting the pack around) to successfully retrieve the water bottles. Otherwise, I really like the pack and have enjoyed using it.

After several months of use, I finally wanted to leave a review. I love this pack! It's perfect for a day hike and I love the positioning of the cross body buckles tailored for women (no straps across the boobs). It's super comfortable and holds a good amount of stuff on a hike. Very durable - I've brought it hiking, airplanes, cities, raft trips and more and it's held up perfectly. Lots of pocket space for stuff as well along with the large main pocket. I really like that you can put a water pack in too, although not included. I've recommended this pack to several friends because of how much I love it!

Tempest 20 is perfect daypack
- Familiarity:

This is my second Tempest 20. It is a great daypack--extremely lightweight and comfortable, with an adjustable panel on the back for various torso sizes. I have noticed that the water bottle holders on the sides are "taller" than the previous version, which is an improvement. (I lost a few water bottles when they were too tall and fell out.) This will accompany me for several years! I am 5'5", and the M/L fits great.
