Why We Built The Backcountry MTN Air Ripstop Short
"This short gives me all the tech I need on my summer runs. Ultralight material that breathes exceptionally well and gives me a little wind and rain protection." —Gearhead® Expert Alex
Extending our popular MTN Air line, the Backcountry MTN Air Ripstop Short lets us run light and free when the trail calls our name. The Pertex Quantum Air fabric is both wind-resistant and breathable to keep us cooler as we're chasing our PB or running exposed ridgelines with the sun beating down on us. The short's ripstop fabric fends off grabbing vegetation while staying lightweight and stretchy—just what we need for freer, more comfortable runs.

I got these with the intention to mountain bike in them and I love them. I like them over my short liners so it gives a 2 tiered look, a little refreshing aesthetic when riding single track instead of the longer shorts that are usually on the trail.

Very psyched on these shorts. Bought them initially as a pure running short, and have found myself wearing them for a myriad of different activities - biking, climbing, trail running, scrambling/ridge running. The weight is amazing - super light, airy, breathable, but are substantial enough to provide some coverage. The fit is solid - I'm a 32 waist and the M is perfect. The legs are loose and extremely comfortable and a contemporary fit - i.e. not tight fitting and uncomfortable. The little pocket in the back is great to stash my car keys in so they aren't rattling around in the normal pocket. And the purple color is richhhh.
